Ex-votos

Material.
Beginning in the early 19th century and continuing throughout the 20th century, most ex-voto paintings were produced on tin. However, other surface media were also used. These examples include paintings on masonite, wood, and cardboard, the latter with an attached plaster figure.

A inicios del siglo XIX y continuando a través del XX, la mayoría de las pinturas de ex-voto fueron producidas sobre hojalata. Sin embargo, también fueron usadas otras superficies. Aquí se incluyen pinturas en masonite, madera y cartón, la última tiene pegada una figura de yeso.

With Señora Margarita Mendoza being found on the border of death by reason of a childbirth that had, as a consequence, a hemorrhage; with her mother seeing that the sick woman was already dead, commended her to the most holy Virgen of San Juan de los Lagos. With this present retablo, she makes clear her promise in this case that happened in 1966. Silao, Guanajuato, 24 July 1967.

Habiendose encontrado la Sra. Margarita Mendoza en el margen de la muerte a causa de un parto teniendo como consecuencia una emorrajia, por lo cual mirando su madre que ya la enferma estaba muerta, la Sra. Madre se la encomendo a la Sma. Virgen de San Juan de los Lagos. Con el presente hace patente su promesa del caso ocurrido en 1966. Silao, Gto, 24 de Julio de 1967.
