Krannert Art Museum offers various programs to explore the artwork and themes in current exhibitions for all audiences: university faculty and students, general public, pre-K through grade 12 students and teachers, and families.

Group Tours

Krannert Art Museum is pleased to offer guided tours to university, school, and community groups free of charge.

You are also invited to lead your group through the galleries on your own. Self-guided tours still must be scheduled to ensure a positive experience in the galleries for all of the museum's guests.

Schedule a tour online or call Virginia at 217-333-8218. Please submit request at least two weeks in advance to schedule a guided tour. Three working days notice is sufficient for a self-guided tour.

Art After Hours / ARTzilla

Each semester, Krannert Art Museum hosts a free, late-night event for college students and planned by college students. The evenings give students the opportunity to enjoy art, music, conversation, and refreshments in a museum setting. Art After Hours maintains a social yet cultural ambience, while ARTzilla creates a quirky and welcoming atmosphere within the museum. Call to Arts: Open Critiques

Performance, visual, and literary artists are invited to participate in open critiques of their work at locations throughout Champaign County. Each month, meet with a special guest artist and visit an intriguing artist space or studio. Organized and moderated by Jenny Southlynn.

DesignMatters

This campus-wide lecture series, organized by the School of Art + Design, explores the synergistic connections between design, technology, and business in the creation of new products, services, and experiences, as well as the development of design thinking in a variety of situations. With a roster of stimulating speakers from academia, business, and the creative industries, the series focuses on how design can shape our future world.

The School of Art + Design Visitors Committee awards funds for visiting scholars/artists to provide workshops and lectures of interest to a broad community of learners. Proposals are submitted to the committee by faculty, students, and academic professionals representing an extensive range of disciplines, from Art Education, Art History, and Graphic and Industrial Design, to Studio areas, including Narrative Media.

SPEAK (Song, Poetry, Expression, Art, and Knowledge) Café is an open-mic public space for hip-hop and Black Power expression. Organized and moderated by Aaron Ammons.

Sudden Sound Concerts

The Sudden Sound Concert Series is committed to presenting leading artists in the fields of improvised music and the jazz avant-garde, establishing Krannert Art Museum as a destination for enthusiasts of today's most progressive music from the U.S. and abroad. Curated by Jason Finkelman.

Yoga Classes

Krannert Art Museum offers free yoga classes that introduce the fundamentals of hatha yoga: seated and standing asanas (poses), breath awareness, and relaxation techniques. Participants should bring their own yoga mats and wear comfortable clothing. Other supplies are provided. Classes are taught by Hayli Peterson, and are limited to 20 participants; first-come, first-serve.
