Museums in Action: Engaging the Community (ARTE 260)
Signing up for this course is the best way for University students to get involved with Krannert Art Museum. Students in this course learn the educational theories of museum education and put them into practice in the following course projects:
- Kids@Krannert – Plan and staff two interactive family festivals
- School Tours and Art-to-Go – Share your love of art with school children
- ARTzilla – Put together an exciting museum extravaganza for college students
- Podcasts – Create an audio guide for museum visitors
This course is open to all students and is offered every semester. After taking this course, many students continue their involvement with Krannert Art Museum.
Kids@Krannert
This event is an engaging family festival offered on two Saturday mornings a semester, and Krannert Art Museum needs lots of volunteers to run this event. If you like to work with children and make art, become a Kids@Krannert volunteer!
Tour Guide/Docent Program
If you are a community member and want to promote the arts, consider becoming a museum docent. You will learn about Krannert Art Museum’s collections and exhibitions as well as touring techniques to connect with museum visitors. Trained volunteers lead groups of children and adults through the museum, sharing their knowledge and enthusiasm about art.
